The Marge Ainsworth Scholarship Fund was set up in 2016. There are two (2) scholarships being awarded each year. One will go to a multiple child of a member, the other will be awarded to an adult member. The deadline for the 2019–2020 scholarship is February 1, 2020. The winning recipients of these awards will be announced at the 2020 National Convention, held in San Antonio, Texas, July 2020.
Eligibility
All members, their spouses, and their multiple birth children are eligible for this award and must fill out the application, which is available either through the website or from Lanie Wish, National Representative. Members who are not eligible for this award are the Scholarship Chairman and members of the Scholarship Committee. The member must be a current member for at least three (3) years, in good standing. Eligibility will be verified by the Executive Office. Applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited educational institution or training program, which may be a university, college, junior college, trade school, or vocational school. Scholarships will not be awarded to any individual more than one time.
Requirements
Applicants must:
a) be a high school graduate or equivalent
b) enroll as a full-time student, for at least twelve (12) hours or units
c) have a GPA of 3.0 or better if applying for a college or university. GPA is not a requirement if applying for a trade/vocational school, but applicants must demonstrate some indication of advancing ability in the chosen field of study.
Award Payment
a) will be determined by the available funds from donations made to the Marge Ainsworth Scholarship Fund.
b) Scholarship award will be paid to the financial aid office after confirmation of enrollment has been received.
c) Use of award is limited to tuition and fees, books, supplies and equipment required by educational institution.
Application Requirements
1. A completed Application Form must be recieved by the Marge Ainsworth Scholarship Chairman by the submission deadline.
2. Applicant’s high school or college transcripts or GED certificate must be included. If applicant has been out of school for more than ten (10) years, transcripts are not required.
3. Proof of acceptance to a university, college, trade or vocational school. A certificate of enrollment may be used showing tuition paid. This must be received before payment will be made.
4. Payment form must be filed out for payment to be made to financial aid office of recipient’s school after confirmation of enrollment is received.
5. Letters of recommendation are required from two (2) sources not related to applicant, attesting to applicant's character, community service, scholastic accomplishments and desire to further education. Source can include, but not limited to, community leaders, advisors, school staff, employers, etc.
6. An essay of at least 400 words and no more than 500 words must accompany application. The topic(s) will be identified in the annual application. Essay must be typewritten, double spaced and printed on white paper only and should not include the applicant’s name or identifying information. No scanned or handwritten copies will be accepted.
7. All materials should be received no later than February 1, 2020. It is preferred to have all materials received together, however if other documents will be sent separately, they must include identifying information about the applicant.
