President's Letter June 2021

Hello fellow MWPOMs-

I know I haven’t even met some of you, but I want to say, “THANK YOU!” to all our club members. No, really! I appreciate you for trying the ridiculous challenges from the Funner Summer and sharing the ridiculous with each other during our Show and Tell call. We ate ice cream together on Zoom when we couldn’t in person. You played our holiday contests and gave online tag sale a couple of tries. We made cocktails, swapped recipes, talked “trash” and learned about internet safety. We got together online and shared ideas about self-care, books, organizing, and food prep! Thank you for welcoming our newest moms. Thank you for answering questions and sharing your opinions on our Facebook page about home schooling, crib issues, hospital plans, pediatricians, and what to do about visitors to newborn babies in the middle of a pandemic. Thank you for renewing your membership! And thank you for patiently awaiting for meetings to be in person again!

I'd also like to thank our board for showing up, planning and keeping in touch through all sorts media. It was a lot of hard work, time and attention without the benefits of leaving the house and kiddos behind, being able to catch up individually with each other and of course the yummy snacks and drinks! But we made it work!

How many of us felt when a Board Meeting Zoom call was finally over!

Unfortunately, last year we had to cancel our annual Year End Dinner. We have been tentatively planning some sort of celebration in June for months. Finally, this Thursday, June 10, we will be having a Summer Social open to all members at the Asa Whiting Barn in Holliston, MA. It has been a real challenge to balance planning and changing state regulations for this event so some things will be different. Although we are not having a traditional sit down dinner and dance party, there will still be awards, installation and lots of time to socialize with your fellow POM’s. We’ve added a mask contest, Bingo, photo area, raffles, and goodie bags too! Since state regulations changed only a week and a half ago and there’s a heat wave this week, there will be some light refreshments available. Also, please be respectful of those members who are continuing safety precautions. Unlike the typical Year End Dinner, there is no cost to attend, but please RSVP on our Facebook page so we know how many take away goodie bags we need to have on hand! I will be continuing on as President for another year and am working with your board on more summer activities. Playground Tours are back and Parents’ Nights Out are being planned. So stay tuned to our Facebook page. We hope you can join us on Thursday so we can THANK YOU in person for sticking with us through a very difficult and unusual year!

Sincerely,

Meredith Fitzgerald
