President's Message - Fall 2019

Updated: Oct 16, 2019

“Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.” - Elizabeth Lawrence

Happy October!

There is a smell of spiced cider and apples in the air thanks to the bushels picked during our Fall Fest at Honey Pot Orchards a couple of weeks ago. A big thank you to our Social Chair, Monicky, for another great event.

Soon, we will be seeing little monsters and favorite characters lighting up doorsteps as Halloween quickly approaches. Our Neighborhood Chair, Lynn, has organized a meetup in the Milford neighborhood area at Southwick's Zoo for “Zoo Boo Days” on Oct 26 at 10am. Children ages 3-12 in costume receive free admission! Neighborhood events are intended to ensure members from outside the Framingham/Natick area are able to attend club events without having to drive too far. However, all members are welcome to attend. Be sure to RSVP with Lynn at neighborhood@mwpom.org or in our Facebook Group Event at www.facebook.com/groups/MWPOM/events. Happy Haunting this month!

This is my second year as your President; it’s also my last. Vice President, Meredith Fitzgerald is in line to take over the role of President this June. To make the most out of our last year together, I’m sending out a Member Survey later this month. I would appreciate if you could take a few moments to fill out the survey and let us know how we’re doing and what we could be doing better.

Last year, we had to change our Membership management system from BigTent to MemberPlanet. Board Members involved in the process were unhappy with the quality of service we received. Our main goal with any member service is to make sure that renewing your membership is an easy process without any glitches. Unfortunately, some of you may have experienced some difficulty during renewal. In light of this, we have built a new registration system on our own website at mwpom.org. If your membership has expired or if you are up for renewal, you will be receiving an email with information on how to easily renew. Keep an eye out for more information on that.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in honor of those fighting and those we have lost, we had a Radiologic Technologist, specializing in Mammography, come to speak about women’s health and preventive care. Our Community Outreach chair, Julia, is still collecting new or gently used bras for Free the Girls. If you weren't able to join us for this important talk, information will be available on our site soon.

Fall is a season of change; it goes by quickly with all of the school days and holidays coming our way. Please take a few moments to slow down and enjoy the fading of summer before the arrival of winter. Autumn is beautiful, but fleeting.
