Happy 60th Birthday MetroWest Parents of Multiples!

Updated: Oct 16, 2019

"It was twenty years ago today, Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play,

They've been going in and out of style, but they're guaranteed to raise a smile"

-Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, by the Beatles

How did we get here? No, we're not the fabulous Beatles, and we're not a band, but sixty years ago this year, a support group of parents of multiples got together and created the support club that we are all a part of today. It's truly amazing to look back and realize that sixty years ago, parents gathered together with a common goal, to support one another, and those founders are our legacy.

What we know today as MetroWest Parents of Multiples (MWPOM) started out as the West Suburban Massachusetts Mothers of Twins Association (WSCMMOTA) in 1959, as it was known until our name change in 2017.

MWPOM is one chapter in the state of Massachusetts. We also hold a membership in our state organization, Massachusetts Mothers of Twins Association (MMOTA), as well as our national organization, Multiples of America. We are a non-profit organization created for the members and run by the members. To learn more about State, please visit https://mmota.org/. To learn more about National, please visit http://www.multiplesofamerica.org. To sign in to National as a member, a username and password is required. Please contact our National Representative, Lanie Wish, at national@mwpom.org for access.

Speaking of our national organization, that is where it all began. Late Founder, Marge Ainsworth, formed our National organization to help connect multiple birth families across the country. She gave birth to such a wonderful support community, and MWPOM was created from what she began.

Please join us as we celebrate sixty years of supporting multiple birth families in the MetroWest area.
